UFC boss Dana White has lashed out at the referee officiating the flyweight bout between Priscila Cachoeira and Valentina Shevchenko at a UFC Fight Night event in Brazil, labelling his decision not to stop the fight as "disgusting."

The bout, which has been described as a 'bloodbath', saw official Mario Yamasaki fail to stop the fight despite the repeated pounding hometown fighter Cachoeira copped.

White counted the strikes landed between the pair as 230 to the impressive Shevchenko and 3 to Cachoeira, and insisted the fight should have been stopped.

He also placed blame on the hosting body, the Brazilian Commission, and said he had no jurisdiction to punish the ref.

But he was clear in his judgement - the referee should never step foot in an octagon again.

The boss of the organisation took to social media to express his disgust in a post aimed squarely at the referee and Brazilian commission.

"Priscila Cachoeira, you showed so much heart and toughness in that fight.

"I'm honoured to have you fight in the UFC.

"Unfortunately the ref is there to protect you and Mario did not do that.

This isn’t his first disgusting performance in the octagon.

"Another unfortunate thing is that i can’t do anything about it - only the Brazilian commission can and I am hoping after this scary, incompetent showing he hopefully will never set foot in that Octagon again.

"Strikes landed was 230-3."
