Fed-up UFC fighter lashes out at fan in hostile crowd

A UFC fighter took the fight from the octagon and into the crowd when he lashed out at a hostile fan during his walk to the cage at UFC 198 in Brazil.

American Matt Brown riled up the home fans when he saluted the crowd with a number of obscene gestures during the weigh-in for his welterweight fight against local favourite Demian Maia.

And the 45,000 fans' anger erupted on the night of the fight with some supporters taking matters into their own hands.

Entering into the arena surrounded by security, Brown was physically and verbally accosted by the crowd as he braved the hostile atmosphere to the octagon.

But the 35-year-old snapped when one fan grabbed him by the top of his hoodie and pulled him to the side of the tunnel – brandishing a quick right-hand before continuing the walk to the cage.

However, Brown should have kept his best moves for the fight – Maia sent the crowd into delirium with a third round rear naked choke submission.
