Flyweight Jarred Brooks ended his UFC Fight Night 131 clash with Jose Torres in spectacular fashion, knocking himself out in the second round.

Brooks enjoyed control over the majority of the bout, even managing to floor Torres with a spinning back-fist midway through the first round.

But when the opportunity for a takedown presented itself things couldn’t have gone worse for the American.

Brooks scooped up Torres and launched both himself and his opponent through the air before slamming down on the canvas.

On first look it seemed Brooks’ ploy paid off, but as Torres found his feet it soon became clear he had somehow managed to knock himself out in the fray.

Torres pounced on the opportunity, putting on some light ground-and-pound before the referee declared him the winner by technical knockout.

“He hit a big slam, used a lot of energy,” Torres said after the fight.

“He let me get parallel, I let him get off centre, he knocked himself out and I put myself in the big power position.”

The win takes Torres’ blossoming UFC record to 8-0 while Brooks recorded his second straight loss (13-2).
