Frankie Edgar's UFC legend status is unquestioned, but he ended his current featherweight stint with defeat after falling to a round one TKO loss in Busan.

Edgar was finished by Chan Sung Jung, aka The Korean Zombie, who resurrected his own contender claims with a stunning striking performance.

Edgar has now lost three of his last four fights, albeit against outstanding opposition, also falling to Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.

Typical of the man, he stepped up to fight Korean Zombie on two weeks notice after Ortega withdrew with a knee injury.

Edgar had been preparing for his bantamweight debut, against Cory Sandhagen at UFC Raleigh in January, but postponed that fight to save the card in Busan.

The former lightweight champion, 38, was philosophical about his defeat.

It remains to be seen if he can become a force at 135 pounds, with a long and decorated 23-8-1 career already in the books.

Meanwhile, Chan Sung Jung (32) proved that he's still a force in the featherweight division, where Australian Alex Volkanovski just claimed the title by beating Holloway.

Volkanovski is set for a rematch against Holloway, while Ortega, Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez also loom large as 145-pound challengers.

The Korean Zombie was the No.6-ranked challenger leading into his defeat of Edgar (No.4).
