IBF junior middleweight world champion Jermall Charlo has landed one of the most spectacular uppercuts you will see to knock down Julian ‘J Rock’ Williams over the weekend.   

Charlo’s title fight with was in the fifth round when Williams attempted a quick one-two.

In the blink of an eye, Charlo countered with a beautiful uppercut which sent Williams to the canvas.

In real time, it looks as if Williams’ initial combination landed but a slow motion replay reveals that Charlo actually deflected the straight right.

Those defensive skills left ringside commentator and former world champion Paulie Malignaggi in awe.

“It’s amazing. He blocks a punch with the same hand that he throws the uppercut,” Malignaggi said in commentary.

“I thought he took the right hand first, but he didn’t take the punch at all, he actually blocks the punch, with the same hand as he’s rolling, holds his ground and then fires back with that.”

While Williams managed to get back to his feet following the uppercut, the fight didn’t last much longer as Charlo recorded a TKO with a flurry of punches.

After the win, the unbeaten Charlo called out one of boxing’s biggest names, Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, as he stated his goal of unifying the belts.

“I want to unify the WBO with Canelo, the WBC and the WBA. Where are you Canelo?” Charlo said.

 “None of them are on my level. I’ve worked very hard throughout my career. I haven’t been given anything.”
