Iacopo La Rocca and Jiri Hudler really need to sit down and have a coffee and a chat about what went wrong.

With the space of a few hours, the pair each supplied contenders for the the worst own goal you will see in 2017.

La Rocca did his for Adelaide United in the A-League while Hudler performed his magic for the Dallas Stars in the NHL.

Iacopo La Rocca had a moment to forget for Adelaide United.

Let’s start with La Rocca.

In another sign that this season is an unmitigated disaster for the defending A-League champions, La Rocca’s attempt to head a cross away for a corner couldn’t have ended much worse as the ball flies straight into the very goal he is supposed to be defending.

To make matters even worse, his team lost 5-0 to Perth Glory.

There there is Hudler and his piece of own goal magic.

With the Stars having pulled their goaltender due to an upcoming penalty, Hudler decided it would be best to hit the puck back to a teammate.

As the video shows, the only problem was that he massed them all and the puck slid into his own, unguarded, net.

Hudler's team lost the match by one goal in another blow for the man from the Czech Republic.
