Unconscious MMA fighter hit three times after KO

The brutality of MMA is once again in the spotlight after a middleweight fighter at Bellator 150 was knocked out but was still hit a further three times in the head.

Hawaiian Kendal Grove KO’d “Kiko” France with a perfect right hook but inexplicably continued his barrage.

Footage shows that Grove connects with another punch to the head as an unconscious France drops to the canvas.

Before the referee can step in to stop the fight, Grove lands two more blows to the head of his prone rival.

MMA allows fighters to attack their opponents on the ground often leading to situations where unconscious fighters are being struck on the canvas before a referee can stop the fight.

The latest incident has once sparked safety concerns about MMA, despite assertions from officials that the sport is safer than boxing.
