Wozniaki’s bad hair day
She's as famous for her good looks and flowing blonde locks as her on court proficiency.
But Danish tennis beauty Caroline Wozniaki has been tripped up by what can only be described as the ultimate bad hair day during her second round win at the US open.
In a comical incident the world No. 10 was left all tied up when her plaited ponytail became tangled in her racquet and in her own words "almost took off my head".
Wozniaki was chasing down a shot from Belarusian opponent Aliaksandra Sasnovich during her 6-3, 6-4 victory when the bizarre incident unfolded.
As the footage shows, the former world No. 1 looks certain to make a regulation return when the ponytail becomes wedged in her frame and cuts short her backswing.
She subsequently misses the return and loses the point.
But after winning the match the Dane was able to look at the funny side, revealing it's not the first time she's fallen foul of her hair.
"It used to happen when I didn't braid my hair," she said after the match.
"That's why I started braiding it. Once it gets to a certain length sometimes it can get stuck in the arm or the racquet.
"It's a first, you know, when it's braided that it's been stuck that good in my racquet.
"I still tried to hit the ball. Almost took my head off."
