Wimbledon doubles joy for Aussie trio
Australian John Peers' two-pronged doubles assault continues at Wimbledon following a pair of wins on Manic Monday at the All England Club.
Top seeds in the men's doubles, Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 6-4 win over Frenchman Hugo Nys and Croat Antonio Sancic.
The Davis Cup linchpin also teamed with German Sabine Lisicki for a 6-1 6-4 second-round mixed doubles win over Australian-born Brydan Klein and fellow Brit Harriet Dart.
French Open runners-up Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua beat Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs 6-1 7-6 (8-6) to move into the women's doubles quarter-finals.
But Sam Groth lost his third-round match with Swede Robert Lindstedt 6-7 (9-7) 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 7-5.
Anastasia Rodionova also bowed out of the mixed event with former Russian compatriot Mikhail Elgin, the duo going down 4-6 6-3 6-4 to Barbora Krejcikova and Kiwi Michael Venus.
There were mixed results for the junior boys with Blake Ellis upsetting seventh seed Trent Bryde in three sets and Thomas Bosancic bowing out in the first round.
