Alexander Bublik bowed out in the third round of Wimbledon overnight - but not before a barrage of underarm serves late in the fourth set.

The 25-year-old was beaten by Frances Tiafoe, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time, 3-6, 7-6 , 7-6, 6-4 - but it was a late service game that raised eyebrows from fans.

While trailing 0-3, Bublik opted for six underarm serves in one game - and eventually prevailed after it went to deuce four times.

The strategy caught the attention of Nick Kyrgios, who cheekily pointed out that if he had done the same thing, he would have been roundly criticised.

"I love it, it's different," he wrote on Twitter.

"But if it was me, I would be accused of tanking and get fined a minimum of 15 thousand pounds"

Tiafoe, the 23rd seed, will next face either Ugo Humbert and David Goffin for a shot at the quarter-finals.

Bublik hit 25 aces but also had 13 double faults, one of which came on match point.

Tiafoe's best performance at a grand slam came in 2019 when he made the quarters of the Australian Open, and he's now one win away from equalling that.
