'This is crazy': Aryna Sabalenka bounces back from 'terrible' grand slam losses to claim US Open title

Aryna Sabalenka has taken out the US Open final for a second year in a row, continuing her dominance with a straight-sets victory over Amanda Anisimova.

The world No.1 fought off some nervous moments and claimed the second-set tiebreak with ease to record a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over her American opponent.

Sabalenka now has four major victories to her name and fell to the ground in tears after losing in the Australian Open and French Open finals earlier in the year.

There was an element of revenge for Sabalenka, who was knocked out by Anisimova in the semi finals at Wimbledon two months ago.

But in an ever-classy victory speech, the Belarusian paid tribute to her rival and urged her to keep fighting after two-straight losses in slam finals.

"This is crazy ... I'm speechless right now," Sabalenka said.

"First of all, I want to say congrats to Amanda on reaching back-to-back finals. I know how much it hurts - but the moment you win your first one [will be worth it] and I know you're going to win it, you're playing incredible tennis.

"I love it here, I love the support. I feel like throughout the years, we build a relationship with you guys [the fans]. I'm super excited to come back next year and I hope you all cheer for me. Thank you guys for bringing the best atmosphere.

"I want to say thank you to my team and my family, everyone who flew here. Hopefully I make many more finals, but you're not allowed to skip any of them.

"Thank you to my team, it's been tough this year and in those finals, I was really terrible to you - but come on, it was worth it. I love you, you're my family."

Anisimova was visibly emotional after the loss after already falling short at Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old admitted that facing Sabalenka was a bridge too far, but thanked her home fans in New York for their support over a gruelling fortnight.

"It's been a great summer - losing in two finals in a row is great, but it's also super hard and and I think I didn't fight hard enough for my dreams today," Anisimova.

"I just want to say congrats to Aryna, you are so incredible. I'm in awe of what you have accomplished and you keep on achieving so many incredible things.

"Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting me at my home slam. It's been an incredible fortnight and I absolutely love playing here.

"It's always been a dream of mine to play in the final of a US Open."

The men's final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled for the early hours of Monday morning (AEST).
