Tomic sorry after clash with resort staff

Bernard Tomic has reportedly apologised after clashing with staff at a Gold Coast resort over a $20 court hire fee.

A member of Gold Coast RACV Royal Pines said the world No. 18 asked local players to leave the court which prompted them to complain to the resort's general manager of sports.

Tomic was then asked by the manager to pay the $20 court hire fee, sparking an outburst from the 23-year-old.

"I've been so focused on preparing for all my matches, I know there's no excuse for my behaviour," Tomic told News Corp Australia.

"I didn't mean to cause any trouble and I apologise to the club members.

"There seems to have been a bit of a misunderstanding and my practice was interrupted and I got a bit frustrated."

The member, who asked not to be named, said after abuse was directed at the manager security were called and asked Tomic and his team to leave.

"He (the manager) continued to be polite and asked who do I need to see to pay (the fee)?"

"That's when Bernard gave him absolute verbal and foul language."

Tomic was practising for the Brisbane International, where he lost in the semi-final, when the blow-up occurred.

His performance in that tournament delivered him the 16th seeding for the Australian Open which kicks off next week.
