Melbourne teenager Chase Ferguson emerged as the only winner amongst the locals in round two of Australian Open junior singles on Monday.

Wildcard Ferguson upset 11th seed Ergi Kirkin from Turkey 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 to move in to the third round of the boys singles.

But the 18-year-old was the only good news story on an otherwise disappointing day, with six other Australians bowing out.

Alexander Crnokrak also had a straight sets loss 6-2 6-2 to Italian Frederico Iammaccone.

In the girls, Gabriella Da Silva Fick was eliminated by China's Chengyiyi Yuan 6-3 6-3, Seona Mendez was unlucky against fourth-seeded Brit Emily Appleton 4-6 6-3 6-2.
