'I really don't care': Rafael Nadal reacts to Nick Kyrgios' cheeky impersonation

Rafael Nadal has responded to Nick Kyrgios' impersonation of the Spaniard at the Australian Open.

In his second-round match against Gilles Simon, Kyrgios stitched up Nadal after chair umpire Jaume Campistol gave the Canberran a time violation as he served for the second set.

Clearly unhappy with the official's call, Kyrgios then served for an ace, gave Campistol a stare-down and mocked Nadal.

"That's my service technique, but it's okay if I go like this," Kyrgios said as he comically pretended to adjust his hair and pants, a common sight at Nadal's matches.

A few points later Simon even gave his own Nadal impersonation, prompting more laughter from Kyrgios and the crowd.

Kyrgios' light-hearted antics amused his fans but Nine's commentary team were genuinely unimpressed by the umpire's time violation call.

"I mean the clock went to zero, but this guy plays so fast, really? That's the second bad call we've seen from the umpire," Jim Courier said.

"It's not like he's trying to stall for any advantage. The crowd is unruly."

After his 6-2 6-4 4-6 7-5 win over Simon at Melbourne Arena, Kyrgios argued that the time violation was a bit harsh.

"I started my service motion," he said at his post-match press conference.

"There wasn't any extracurricular activities I was doing before my serve to waste time."

At the conclusion of Nadal's 6-3 7-6 6-1 victory over Argentina's Federico Delbonis, one brave journalist quizzed the world No.1 about the Kyrgios impersonation.

Nadal gave an abrupt response, seemingly unwilling to give any more oxygen to Kyrgios.

"I really don't care," Nadal told reporters.

"I am here to play tennis.

"I don't care at all. Was it funny? Good? That's it."

Kyrgios' not-so-subtle jab at Nadal added to the pair's ongoing rivalry. Last year after Nadal accused Kyrgios of lacking respect for his opponents, the Aussie fired back with his own unfiltered thoughts about the 'salty' Spaniard.

"He's my polar opposite, like literally my polar opposite. And he's super salty," Kyrgios famously said of Nadal on the No Challenges Remaining podcast last year.

"Every time I've beaten him ... when he wins, it's fine. He won't say anything bad, he'll credit the opponent, 'He was a great player'.

"But as soon as I beat him, it's just like, 'He has no respect for me, my fans and no respect to the game'.

"And I'm like, 'What are you talking about? I literally played this way when I beat you the other previous times and nothing changed ... When you beat me in Rome here a couple of years ago, nothing changed; I was the same person'."
