Defending champion Novak Djokovic goes nuts at chair umpire at French Open

Novak Djokovic struggled his way into the French Open final 16 after a torrid five-set fight with Argentinian Diego Schwartzman.

The 30-year-old didn’t have it all his own way during the 5-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win battling a grumpy mood and a chair umpire who wasn’t going to be pushed around.

Djokovic picked up a code violation for unsportsman-like conduct when he raised his racquet at the umpire and muttered words in Serbian as he battled mental demons.

The second seed lost it when he was penalised for his behaviour.

“What the hell is wrong with you? What’s wrong with you? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? Why did you give me warning? What? Do you understand Serbian or what?” Djokovic asked.

The umpire said he didn’t appreciate the way Djokovic raised his racquet like he was going hit the ball there.

The exchange ends when Djokovic walks away saying ‘You’re losing your mind’.

Following the win the former world number one said he was tested by the Schwartzman.

"I expected a tough match, there were lots of exchanges from the baseline and the conditions were heavy," he said

"I congratulate Diego on a great battle. He played very, very well."
