Nick Kyrgios tells fans 'I'll be back soon' amid ongoing doubts about career plans
Nick Kyrgios has given fans a glimmer of hope after withdrawing from consecutive tournaments, saying: "I'll be back soon."
Kyrgios pulled out of the ATP Tour's Qatar and Dubai events but indicated he has tennis on his mind with the below Instagram post.
Kyrgios' future was immediately back in doubt after an Australian Open campaign that ended with a third-round loss to Dominic Thiem; a five-set thriller.
The mercurial Australian, 25, was inactive for nearly a year before the Open due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was unwilling to travel during the global health crisis and the coronavirus situation across Europe and the US is still grave, meaning that his willingness to play abroad remains unclear.
There were concerns after the Open that Kyrgios, currently ranked world No.50, would be badly affected by another year away from the tour.

"Now the question is, what happens for the rest of the year?" Australian tennis great Todd Woodbridge told Wide World of Sports.
"For me, I get the feeling he probably won't travel. I don't think he's going to feel at all comfortable going away with the current scenario, it's no better; in fact, it's worse than what it was when he chose not to go in the first place.
"And that's going to be really tough. That would almost mean two years out of the game.
"And to play as well as he did here, with absolutely, really, no preparation, I thought was an extraordinary performance. But what does that do to his career? That's going to be a big question if he doesn't go again."
Following Dubai, the ATP Tour has the Acapulco 500 event, which Kyrgios won in 2019, followed by the Miami Masters 1000.
