Nick Kyrgios loses first match at Indian Wells, after Acapulco title
Nick Kyrgios has lost his opening match at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 event, bombing out against veteran Phillip Kohlschreiber despite winning the Mexico Open last start.
Kyrgios was coming off an amazing tournament in Acapulco where he toppled Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, John Isner and Alexander Zverev, yet lost to Kohlschreiber 6-4 6-4 on Sunday (AEDT).
The Australian star was left frustrated his equipment during the clash against the veteran German, slamming his racquet into the court before throwing his shoes into the crowd during the contest.

Kyrgios brought more firepower than the 35-year-old German, ranked world No.39, but could not match his consistency. The Australian entered the tournament ranked world No.33 but was unable to continue his climb back into the world's elite.
Kyrgios could not convert any of the five break points he held against Kohlschreiber, who will next face world No.1 Novak Djokovic.
The controversial star was not the only Australian to be bundled out at Indian Wells, with Alex de Minaur also rolled in the tournament.
