Aus Open brown goo baffles social media
It's the mysterious brown goo that has social media speculating whether the epic five set Australian Open against Roger Federer proved too much for Rafael Nadal.
As the match entered a fifth set the Spanish champion called the ball kid over to clean up something at his feet – with Twitter users claiming it was everything from vomit to bird poo.
Fuelling speculation that it could have had something to do with Nadal was the fact he seemed to apologise to the ball kid as he was mopping it up with a towel.
However, other users were quick to defend Nadal and claimed that a wayward bird was responsible for the offending courtside mess.
The incident failed to overshadow what was an otherwise enthralling battle between two of the greatest champions the game has ever produced.
Federer would go on to claim the fifth set and take home his 18th grand slam title.
