Monfils jumps clears doubles partner to nail overhead smash

Jumping over a person is more commonplace on the basketball court than courts of the tennis variety, but Gael Monfils is changing that with his superhuman athleticism.

The mercurial Frenchman used a training session to show that he could clear a person with his leap as he hammered an overhead smash.

Practice court footage shows a man lob the ball above Monfils’ female playing partner, with the Frenchman launching himself towards the ball, clearing the woman’s head before nailing the shot to complete what is the tennis equivalent of AFL’s hanger.
