Matosevic shares joke with Michael Jordan

Controversial Australian tennis player Marinko Matosevic has taken time out during his US Open loss to Roger Federer to share a joke with a sporting legend in the crowd.

The first round clash was in its dying stages when Matosevic spotted basketball icon Michael Jordan in Federer’s box.

Footage of the match shows that the normally brash Aussie was visibly startled when he spotted Jordan.

“I just want to be like Mike,” Matosevic can be heard saying to Jordan after the next point.

The line makes an embarassed Jordan laugh before Matosevic holds the game up to point at the NBA legend.

The Australian seemed to take inspiration from the moment, breaking Federer to force a third set tiebreak.

Federer won that 7-4 to close out the 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 win.
