Lleyton Hewitt to make comeback at Australian Open

Lleyton Hewitt will make a comeback to professional tennis at the Australian Open.

Hewitt will team up with friend and fellow Aussie Sam Groth in the doubles, which will be Groth’s last appearance at Melbourne Park.

36-year-old Hewitt retired from the ATP circuit after last year’s Australian Open but has been training in preparation for the season’s first grand slam.

 “Yeah, it’s going to be a bit of fun,” said Hewitt.

“That’s what the Australian Open is about, it’s the happy slam.

“For me to be around there and going about it in a different way, I’m going to really enjoy it.”

Groth says there’s no reason why both players can’t go deep into the draw.

“I am out there hitting balls every day and we’re not just going out there to make up the numbers, we want to give it a good crack,” Groth said.
