Linette beats Giorgi in Bronx Open final

Qualifier Magda Linette came from a set down to beat Camila Giorgi and win the Bronx Open.

The Pole lost a tight opening set but hit back to edge out the unseeded Italian 5-7 7-5 6-4 in New York on Saturday.

Italian Giorgi was serving to stay in the match when she found herself two break points down and dumped a forehand into the net.

Victory capped a remarkable week for Linette, who took the scalps of seeds Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Karolina Muchova and Katerina Siniakova en route to the final.
