Kyrgios, Tomic should be fit: Hewitt

Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt has dismissed concerns over the fitness of star duo Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic ahead of Australia's first-round tie against the United States at Kooyong.

Kyrgios retired with back and hip issues during a semi-final against Stan Wawrinka at the Dubai Tennis Championship last week, while Tomic was hampered by wrist soreness as he lost to Dominic Thiem in Sunday's final of the Acapulco Open in Mexico.

Hewitt spoke to reporters at Kooyong in Melbourne on Monday after a practice session with doubles pairing Sam Groth and John Peers, and maintained both Kyrgios and Tomic would be fit for the tie that gets underway on Friday.
