Czech's surprise at another crack at Barty

Getting another crack at Australia's world No.1 Ashleigh Barty so soon is surprising for Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

In an Adelaide International quarter-final on Thursday night, the pair will feature in a rematch of last year's French Open final.

In Paris, Barty romped to her maiden grand slam title with a 6-1 6-3 thrashing.

In Adelaide, Vondrousova is shocked to be back in form and again crossing paths with the Australian hero.

"I am really surprised to be playing so well, I didn't play for such a long time," Vondrousova said.

After her defeat to Barty in Paris, Vondrousova was cruelled by a wrist injury at Wimbledon a month later which needed surgery and ended her season.

The 20-year-old has returned to action in Adelaide for the first time since, hence her surprise at producing such strong run at Memorial Drive.

Vondrousova on Wednesday hammered Australian qualifier Arina Rodionova 6-0 6-0.

But she knows her next Australian opponent, Barty, will be a different proposition - she's yet to win a set against the Queenslander in three matches over a three-year span.

"It is going to be tough," Vondrousova said.

"She is at home, world No.1 (but) I am really looking forward to it."

Barty has played just once in Adelaide after suffering a first-round loss at last week's Brisbane International.

She was gifted a first-round bye in Adelaide, then prevailed in a tight three-setter against Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Tuesday at Memorial Drive, winning 4-6 6-3 7-5.

In other Thursday quarter-finals, second-seeded Simona Halep meets Belarusian wildcard Aryna Sabalenka; Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska plays Croatian Donna Vekic and American Danielle Collins clashes with fourth seed Belinda Bencic.
