Cheeky Federer hit Aussie Matosevic's bum

When Marinko Matosevic stepped off court at the US Open yesterday, all he could talk about was how awestruck he was to have been playing his idol Roger Federer, in front of basketball great Michael Jordan.

Jordan sat in Federer's courtside box at Arthur Ashe Stadium and the Aussie admitted it was all a bit much.

"I was, like, a little awestruck," he said after his gallant 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3) first-round loss.

Matosevic freely admitted to trying to humour Jordan mid-match, but only now is a separate incident that really got Jordan laughing starting to make headlines.It features a trademark 'tweener' from Federer.

Matosevic had attempted to lob the Swiss champion, but the ball landed beyond the baseline.Though the point was already his, Federer decided to hit the ball back anyway, between his legs.Not only did the ensuing shot make it over the net, but it struck Matosevic high on his bottom, sparking roars of laughter from the crowd.Matosevic only played a small role in the incident, but if he wanted to entertain Jordan, this video proves he did have a small victory.
