Brazilian Bruno Soares has claimed his second Australian Open title in as many days after teaming with Russian Elena Vesnina to win the mixed doubles.

The first-time partners downed the unseeded duo of Romanian Horia Tecau and American Coco Vandeweghe 6-4 4-6 10-5 in Sunday's final at Rod Laver Arena.

Soares had already picked up the mens' doubles crown with Brit Jamie Murray, the older brother of Andy.

The doubles double had not been achieved at the Australian Open since former Davis Cup stalwart Mark Woodforde managed it back in 1992, teaming up with Nicole Provis to defeat doubles partner Todd Woodbridge and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario after winning the mens.

Soares said he felt like he'd been on the court for 24 hours straight.

"I went to bed at 5am and woke up at 11am and I've been running on coffee ever since," Soares said.
