Australian tennis legend Pat Cash entertains crowd during mixed doubles match at Hopman Cup

Pat Cash's best years may be behind him but the former Australian tennis champion still knows how to entertain the crowd.

Cash, 52, donned the famous headband once more to partner Coco Vandeweghe at the Hopman Cup, following the withdrawal of her partner from the US, Jack Sock, with a hip injury.

The Americans were awarded the mixed doubles match because Japan's Naomi Osaka had already withdrawn, so the result was never in doubt.

Cash, who coaches Vandeweghe and made his last appearance at the Hopman Cup in 1995, showed plenty of skill even though he ended up on the wrong end of the result for the makeshift match 0-4 4-3 (5-2) 0-4.

He also managed to keep the crowd laughing, after teasing a ball boy who was only looking to do his job and using a linesperson for a towel (or was that a handkerchief?) after struggling to find one.

The Aussie tennis legend quipped afterwards it had been an enjoyable experience but he's not sure how much longer he could have lasted.

"I got warmed up nicely," Cash said.

"I had a few games where I’m in my peak and then I’m over it. And that was in the first 10 minutes. Then it was downhill."
