A selfie-snapping fan with official accreditation had their brush with tennis star Jannik Sinner ended abruptly by security before Sunday's final.

As Sinner made his way through the tunnel leading onto the court for the Australian Open final, an unidentified individual stopped the 22-year-old for a photo.

In footage shown on Stan Sport, Sinner can be seen agreeing to the photo opportunity.

Another member of staff appears to question the incident before a security guard intervenes.

The individual immediately had their accreditation stripped from around his neck and was sent on his way.

Stan Sport commentator Mark Petchey opened the broadcast, referencing the awkward moment.

"Hello and welcome to everyone for today's men's final of the Australian Open," the Englishman said.

"And there is one of the men of the moment, and everyone wants to get a picture of him prior to the final because he may well emerge as the champion."

The moment didn't seem to bother Sinner, who went on to defeat Daniil Medvedev in a come-from-behind win.
