Aussie tennis player banned for betting

Australian tennis player Calum Puttergill has been hit with a six-month ban and fined $US10,000 ($A13,500) for betting-related corruption offences.
The South African-born 23-year-old, who's based in Noosa, is a doubles specialist who plays on the Challenger Tour.

The Tennis Integrity Unit said Puttergill, ranked 1,207 in the world, was found guilty of placing bets on matches between 2012 and 2014.
None of the bets were on matches he was involved in.
Puttergill's ban will be halved if he commits no further violations before June 11.
The news come just a week after Australian Open junior champion Oliver Anderson was charged with match fixing by Victoria Police.
