Andy Murray may be on the mend after undergoing significant hip surgery, but that hasn't stopped him from ruining Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka's celebrations.

Osaka, who is known for being one of the more quiet players on the circuit, finally broke her social media silence on her triumph in a heartfelt Instagram post, thanking her entire team, before the savage British legend struck.

"Disappointed not to be mentioned in this post after our hit in Brisbane but congrats anyway," he wrote.

Osaka replied saying: "My bad. Thanks Andy for giving me confidence after our hit in Brisbane."

Osaka explained that she was too nervous and forgot to thank her closest confidants during her speech Supplied

The new world No.1 started her post by explaining why her acceptance speech after beating Petra Kvitova was so short.

"I want to thank everyone around me, because during the ceremony I was too nervous and I didn't wanna talk for too long," she wrote.

Osaka then went on to thank her trainer Kristy Stahr and her fitness coach Abdul Sillah as well as her agent Stuart Duguid, hitting partner and coach Sascha Bajin.

The 21-year-old finished the post for thanking her father for "teaching (her) the values in life".
