Australia's top male swimming sprinter Cameron McEvoy says the banning of Russian rival Vladimir Morozov will have no impact on his Rio Olympic campaign.

McEvoy, ranked No.1 in the world in the 100m freestyle and second in the 50m, said he had not thought about Morozov because he has not competed against him since 2013.

"It has been so long since I've raced him so I kind of forgot he was on the radar up until recently," McEvoy told reporters on Wednesday at the Australian swim team's camp at Alabama's Auburn University.

McEvoy said world swimming was so stacked with talent every race in Rio would be difficult.

Mozorov was ranked second in the world in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 50m, but was one of seven Russians banned from Rio in recent days by swimming's world governing body FINA after a doping scandal rocked the Russian Olympic team.

Morozov, who plans to appeal, declared on Facebook he is clean.

McEvoy said he was in top shape heading into Rio, where he will also race in Australia's 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x100m medley relays.

He dropped the 200m freestyle individual race because of the tough schedule he would have faced in Rio.
