Four Aussie medallists at IPC Swim worlds

Paralympic veteran Rick Pendleton has described the moment he touched the wall third in the men's 100m breaststroke (SB9) final at the Glasgow IPC swimming world championships as bittersweet.

The 30-year-old dual was a little disappointed with his time of 1 minute, 9.04 seconds but above all was thrilled to earn a bronze medal.

"For me finishing the race was a bit of a bittersweet moment," he said.

"I looked up and I was hoping for slightly quicker time but then I noticed the number three next to my name and I was really happy to get that bronze medal."

Pendleton's bronze was one of four medals won by Australian swimmers on Wednesday (Thursday AEST).

Teenager Tiffany Thomas-Kane backed up from her gold medal win in the women's 100m breaststroke (SB9) on Tuesday to finish second in the women's 50m butterfly (S6).

Thomas-Kane, a 13-year-old Sydney high school student, added to her world record swim in the breaststroke by breaking the Oceania butterfly record with a time of 38.17s.

Grant Patterson also claimed a silver in the men's 150m individual medley category with a time of 3:08.94, while Sean Russo picked up a bronze in the men's 100m backstroke (S13), clocking in at 1:01.10.

Australia's overall medal tally now stands at four gold, four silver and four bronze.
