Britain's Peaty wins sixth world title

Britain's Adam Peaty has recorded a sixth individual world championship gold medal after he retained his 50m breaststroke title in South Korea.

The 24-year-old has won both the 100m and the 50m breaststroke finals at the last three world swimming titles.

He won his first two titles in 2015 at Kazan, on the way setting a new world record in the 50m semi-final.

Peaty went on to defend both titles in Budapest in 2017 and became the first man to break the 26-second barrier in the 50m semi-final, finishing in 25.95 seconds.

Now in South Korea he has become the first person to go under the 57-second barrier in the 100m breaststroke, recording a time of 56.88 seconds in the semi-final.

Peaty backed it up with a time of 57.14 to secure gold in the final.

He added to his medal haul in the 50m on Wednesday, winning by 0.6 seconds to secure his sixth individual world title.
