Surfer pulls off lacrosse tricks

On face value surfing and lacrosse have little in common.

But US college student Julie Castner has found a novel way to mix her two sporting passions by taking her lacrosse stick and ball out into the breakers to pull off some tricks while riding a wave.

Hitting the ocean on a typically small day in Florida, Castner decided to liven up a mundane session by juggling the lacrosse ball as she surfed.

With the stick resting on her Malibu, the University of Detroit Mercy student paddled onto a wave and after jumping to her feet began launching the ball into the air, over her head, behind her back and even between her legs.

And while the surf conditions were more lake-like than challenging it sure looks like a fun way to mix it up.
