Supermaxi Comanche continues winning run

Supermaxi Comanche has continued her hot lead-up to the Sydney to Hobart with a line honours victory in the Cabbage Tree Island yacht race on Saturday.

Comanche, which next month will bid for successive Sydney to Hobart line honours wins, finished in just under 17 hours seven minutes, one hour 20 minutes ahead of old rival Wild Oats XI.

A third supermaxi, Black Jack, retired from the race.

"We had a really nice run back down though and it was great to open up a good lead on the other 100s," said Comanche skipper and co-owner Jim Cooney.

It was Comanche's third line honours victory in as many months.

She also finished first across the line in September's Flinders Islet race and October's Newcastle Bass Island race.

Five supermaxis will contest the Sydney to Hobart starting on Boxing Day, with Scallywag and InfoTrack lining up in the fleet alongside Comanche, Black Jack and eight-time line honours winner Wild Oats XI.
