Squirrel 'wreaks havoc' at NFL game

A squirrel emerged as the unlikeliest of stars during an NFL game where it “wreaked havoc”.

The Vikings-Packers clash was continually interrupted by the rodent who, despite the best efforts of both teams and officials, ran rampant at TCF Bank Stadium in Minnesota.

Footage from the match shows the squirrel running along the sideline when it easily evades an attempt by a Vikings official to catch it with a jacket.

The furry star had social media lighting up as it made several appearances on the TV broadcast before the end of the first quarter, with commentators saying it had been “wreaking havoc all day”.

Fox even used slow-motion footage of the squirrel running before an ad break, with one of the commentators critiquing its running style with the quip, “great extension”.

The home fans would have been hoping some of the Vikings could have emulated the squirrel’s evasiveness after struggling offensively in the 13-30 loss to Green Bay.
