Sports caller delivers verbal diarrhoea

Sports callers are renowned for their hyperbole and often bizarre analogies.

But US ice hockey commentator Razor Reaugh literally delivered the worst case of verbal diarrhea of all time during a recent National Hockey League match.

Calling a clash between the Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes, Reaugh had viewers scratching their heads - mainly in disgust - as he described how Dallas' Jamie Benn carved up his rivals to score a stunning goal during his side's 4-1 victory.

Voicing over a replay after Benn had weaved through the Hurricanes defence to slot in a goal late in the second period, Reaugh offered this gem: "like poop from a diarrhea-infected goose, Benn goes through everyone".

Hockey fans immediately took to social media to comment on the call, with most left bewildered by the, er, crappy analogy.

"Why would anyone say that? Just why," asked one viewer, Pavel Barber.

While another fan suggested Reaugh must have delivered the line for a bet.

Either way, Reaugh could no doubt learn a lesson or two from cricket great and Channel Nine commentator Richie Benaud, who has long sprouted the mantra: "less is more".
