OLYMPICS - The International Olympic Committee is exploring its legal options around banning Russia's participation at the Rio Games after a report detailed a state-run doping program. An emergency IOC Executive Board meeting fell short of an immediate ban. Russia has suspended a raft of senior sports officials following the report's release.
CYCLING - Despite having taken out four stages at this year's Tour de France, British rider Mark Cavendish has withdrawn from the race in a bid to improve his medal chances at next month's Olympics in Rio. The Tour held its second and final rest day overnight, with five stages remaining.
