Speed skaters Lockett, Jung off to Korea
Andy Jung has swept aside the disappointment of narrowly missing the 2014 Olympics by joining world No.7 Deanna Lockett as Australia's short track speed skating representatives for Pyeongchang.
Korean-born Jung, an Australian citizen since 2013, will make his Winter Olympic debut in South Korea in February after dominating national trials in Melbourne last week.
He will contest the 500m and 1500m events, in which he was ranked 20th and 42nd in the world respectively after last season.
Jung was beaten to selection by Pierre Boda for Sochi 2014 before returning to Korea for training.
"I missed the Sochi Games by a pinch," the 20-year-old said.
"Now making it to Pyeongchang, it's everything I've been working for, everything that I had was put in and it feels unreal.
"It's a big relief."
Lockett was Australia's youngest athlete in Sochi, where she was eliminated in the first round.
She started the Olympic season strongly with a third-placing at the 1500m World Cup opener in Budapest in late September.
"I was very nervous for my first event in Sochi, so I have worked on that a bit and grown from my past experience and I will be better this time," Lockett said.
