Snowboarder wins after rivals fall

French snowboarder Ken Vuagnoux emulated Australian speed skater Steven Bradbury as he enjoyed a race victory after all his opponents fell.

Vuagnoux was trailing in fourth place in a heat at the World Snowboard Cross Championships in Kreischberg, Austria, when all three of his rivals collided at a turn, leaving the slope clear for him to secure the unexpected win.

The incident evoked memories of Bradbury's dramatic gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, when all of his opponents crashed out in a last-corner pile-up in the 1,000m final.

While Vuagnoux claimed the win, the USA's Nate Holland was able to pick himself up to secure second place, enabling him to progress to the next round alongside the Frenchman.
