Snoop Dogg goes hard in celebrity softball game

He's the laidback gangsta rapper best known for his hard edged songs and love of weed.

But Snoop Dogg showed underneath the dreadlocks and baggy trackies lies a steely competitive edge when it comes to sport.

Playing in the recent All Stars Legends and Celebrities Softball Game at Cincinnati, Snoop went all out to win, delivering his very own highlights package with a series of hilarious plays.

The 43-year-old, who's had more name changes than a US sports team, was in the thick of the action among a posse of sports legends and celebrities at Great American Ball Park.

Among the highlights was a canny bid to steal second base, followed by a theatrical argument with the umpire when he was given out.

At another point, he dived on the turf to retrieve a ball in a desperate bid to tag actor Rob Riggie near the home plate.

But the funniest play of all came when he jumped a fence trying to rob former Major League Baseball star Vlad Guerrero of a home run, which came up empty when he comically tripped over.

It sure made for a fun day at the ball park.
