Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has provided the moment of the 2018 NFL Draft, walking to announce his team's pick following a serious spinal injury.

Shazier, a two-time Pro Ball member, suffered a severe spinal injury in December 2017 following a head-on tackle and was seemingly unable to move his legs following the hit.

After Shazier was admitted to hospital, it was revealed that he had suffered a spinal contusion.

Shazier then underwent spinal stabilization surgery to secure the injured section of spine and to aid in neurological recovery, but he was ruled out of the 2018 NFL season.

However, after being wheelchair-ridden since his injury, Shazier wowed onlookers by walking onto the stage to announce the Steelers' first round pick Terrell Edmunds.

The 25-year-old only recently regained movement of his legs and still harbours aspirations of playing in the NFL again.
