* Wing - Adam Ashley-Cooper (Aust) v Josh Adams (Wales)

Nobody will be scrutinised more than evergreen Wallabies back Ashley-Cooper, whose pace will get a keen workout from Adams, the sharpest back on show in the Welsh win over Georgia.

* Outside centre - James O'Connor (Aust) v Jonathan Davies (Wales)

O'Connor's ball play is a new weapon in wider channels. He'll need plenty of guile in his 50th Test to unlock a defence that has been marshalled supremely by Davies in recent years.

* Flanker - Michael Hooper (Aust) v Justin Tipuric (Wales)

Were arguably the best performers for both teams in their opening group wins. Hooper's leadership shone against Fiji while the all-purpose Tipuric is verging on career-best form.

* Lock - Rory Arnold (Aust) v Alun Wyn Jones (Wales)

Arnold has been a towering presence in 2019 but even he had to admit he was coming up against second row royalty, with skipper Jones poised to become Wales' most capped player.
