Wallabies make six changes for Scotland Test at Murrayfield

Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii has been named in the Wallabies starting line-up in a host of changes for their match against Scotland at Murrayfield on Monday (AEDT).

Suaalii has been promoted from the bench and will make his second Test start alongside Len Ikitau in the midfield, who was named in the No.12 jersey due to Samu Kerevi's suspension.

Carlo Tizzano will start at openside flanker, with Rob Valetini moving back to blindside flanker, with captain Harry Wilson back at No.8.

Jeremy Williams has been recalled to partner Will Skelton in the second row, while Jake Gordon is back at scrumhalf to partner Noah Lolesio.

Harry Potter, meanwhile, will make his Test debut after being selected on the left wing in place of Max Jorgensen, who drops to the bench.

Potter has already heard all the puns.

He better brace himself for a few more after being picked to play for his country for the first time — fittingly in the city where the famous books about his fantasy namesake were written.

Potter will bring his wing wizardry to an Australia team seeking a sweep of the rugby nations in Britain and Ireland for the first time since that end-of-year Grand Slam was achieved by the Wallabies in 1984.

"It's a good challenge for journalists to see if they can think of a unique or original Harry Potter pun," Potter said after being picked in the squad.

"They are few and far between, but good luck to you... like it's been 26 years of it. So it's pretty funny, I reckon, and yeah, I tip my hat if you think of something original. I think 'You're a winger, Harry' was actually not bad...

"Slips (James Slipper) asked me what I like to be called, and I told him a few things, and he then decided 'Wizard' was probably the best idea."

Potter will become the 18th player to make his debut for Australia in 2024 — and the 989th player to feature for the Wallabies in their proud history — as coach Joe Schmidt continues to bring in new faces in search of greater squad depth.

"The week has been complicated, with the freezing conditions ruling out training fields but the group have adapted well to the situation," Schmidt said.

"The core of the Scotland team has been together for a number of years. They're cohesive and combative and we will need to be at our best."
