Wallabies hoping kind venue record extends

The Wallabies will put an eight-Test, two decade unbeaten streak at Allianz Stadium on the line when they host England on Saturday.

A sellout crowd expected to challenge the existing ground attendance record will gather to see if Australia can avoid a three-Test whitewash.

The ground has been a fortress for Australia, who enjoy a 79 per cent all-time success rate at the venue.

New Zealand were the last overseas side to win there back in 1995, but lost on their last visit in 1998, after which the Sydney-based Bledisloe Cup contests were moved across town to the Olympic Stadium.

The ground next to the SCG went without a Test for 14 years, but has hosted matches against Wales in 2012 and France in 2014.

Only Melbourne's Etihad Stadium boasts a kinder record for Australia with an 85 per cent success rate for the Wallabies.

Australia's only two previous clashes with England at Allianz Stadium resulted in big wins for the home team.

The first was a memorable five-try 40-15 thrashing in July 1991, just a few months before Australia's World Cup final triumph over the same team in England.

The second encounter in 1997 produced a 25-6 victory for the Wallabies.
