Tilse and Carraro leave Waratahs
The departures from the NSW Waratahs have continued, with prop Jeremy Tilse and back Matt Carraro the latest players opting to leave the Super Rugby franchise.
They have joined Wallabies Kurtley Beale, Wycliff Palu and Dave Dennis, who are all heading overseas, and Benn Robinson who has retired.
There could be further losses to come, with veteran lock Dean Mumm weighing up whether to retire and coach Daryl Gibson saying long-serving hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau will make an announcement shortly about his future.
Tilse 30, made the first of his 64 NSW appearances back in 2006, with all but a handful of his 60 Super caps earned off the bench.
Winger and centre Carraro accumulated 51 Super caps for NSW across five seasons in two separate spells with the franchise in 2008-09 and 2014-16.
Gibson thanked the departing players for their contributions but stressed it provided the younger generation of players with an opportunity to build a new era.
"Matt and Jeremy have been outstanding role models for our young players," Gibson said.
"They are true ambassadors for the game and their leadership and commitment to NSW is to be commended.
"Whilst it is a sad time, we celebrate their achievements and value everything they have given to the team.
"This is a great opportunity for the Waratahs next generation to begin a new era and build on the legacy that so many of our players have contributed to."
