Commentators stunned by all-time prop try but Queensland goes top of Super Rugby Pacific ladder

Tom Robertson scored one of the all-time prop tries but it still wasn't enough to stop the Queensland Reds from claiming top spot on the Super Rugby Pacific ladder.

Western Force prop Robertson left Stan Sport's commentary team stunned by his sensational sixth-minute effort, receiving an offload from Nick Champion de Crespigny and bursting clear down the middle of Suncorp Stadium.

Robertson ran nearly half the field before sliding over in a moment that entered Force folklore.

"He just kept going. He knew it was wet ground, he's going to slide in. What a try from the prop," Wallabies great Tim Horan said.

"I think everyone thought, 'Gee this boy's running fast and he's still going'," ex-Test lock Justin Harrison added.

"Everyone stopped and watched. Tom Robertson just knew the way to get there, he knew momentum was going to take him there as well."

Force flanker Carlo Tizzano also continued his extraordinary season with two tries to go top of the competition's list with 10.

Tizzano, not a noted try-scorer before 2025, has already broken Scott Staniforth's club record of nine in one season from just six games.

But Reds halfback Tate McDermott scored with seven minutes to go to snatch a 28-24 win in Brisbane on Saturday.

It catapulted Queensland above the Chiefs and Crusaders to the top of the Super Rugby standings.

The club's 5-1 record will only increase speculation that coach Les Kiss is about to become the next Wallabies boss when Joe Schmidt steps aside in October.
