Streaker endures silent treatment from girlfriend

Powered by

A streaker who invaded the pitch during the All Blacks' clash with England in Dunedin has copped the worst punishment of all, with his girlfriend now giving him the silent treatment following his naked antics.

Adam Holstag was arrested and fined after stripping off and running onto the field on Saturday evening, and also copped a ferocious tackle from one unamused security guard, but this latest penance is sure to top even the huge hangover he would have woken up with on Sunday morning.

"She wasn't too happy," said Holstag, who has been charged with offensive behaviour by police and has vowed not to repeat his Forsyth Barr Stadium actions.

"It'll be the first and the last time," he told Fairfax Media.

"It wasn't on the bucket list or anything.

"The boys were just talking it up - the next thing you know."

Video footage of Holstag's pitch invasion went viral over the weekend due to the rough treatment he received from security guard Brad Hemopo, who charged at the offender from behind before launching himself into a flying tackle.

The guard's extreme handling of the streaker drew criticism from shocked fans online, but those who know the keen rugby player have since jumped to his defence.

"He is not an aggressive person," said John Gee, his High School Old Boy's rugby coach.

"He is not the sort of person that does that but in the heat of the moment and being paid to do a job."

It has since emerged that university student Hemopo should have been playing rugby himself on Saturday, but took the job at Forsyth Barr Stadium as he needed the extra money.
