Audacious moment silences 'boring Springboks' critics as Lukhanyo Am produces moment of brilliance

Springboks centre Lukhanyo Am reminded critics that the South Africans are more than capable of playing exciting footy after he produced a stunning behind the back pass to set up a try.

In the wake of three straight Rugby Championship defeats, two at the hands of the Wallabies and one last weekend to New Zealand, the South Africans were out to finish their tour in Australia on a positive note against the All Blacks tonight.

And it couldn't have started any better when Am produced a moment of individual brilliance, which put Damian de Allende in for the opening try of tonight's match.

"It's the razzle-dazzle we never expected from the Springboks, but there is!" said Stan Sport commentator Andrew Swain. "What a try."

All Blacks great Andrew Mehrtens added: "A wonderful moment from the South Africans."

"Around the back and great delay to finally put Damian de Allende [in].

"Damian de Allende right on the spot."

South Africa's Rugby Championship campaign has copped heavy criticism towards their kick-happy style of play, which many said lacked excitement.

Most notably, former England coach Sir Clive Woodward blasted Souths Africa's game plan during their two-game series with the Wallabies.

"I looked on in horror last weekend at the sheer poverty and boredom from the South Africa team against Australia," Woodward said at the time.

"Rugby was not — and is not — meant to be played like that and I'm just pleased Australia won."
