Amateur rugby player Alan Knuckey has pulled off a play 15 years in the making after scoring a last-minute try off an overhead back-heel pass to himself.

The Londoner who plays for Charlton Park claims that the last ditch play was his finest sporting moment and came off the back of a dare

“I looked to the guys on the sideline and said, should I try the back heel,” he said.

“My mate dared me, I accepted.

“For fifteen years I’ve attempted this. Never have I finished it off.”

In the clip, Knuckey can be seen calling for the ball before kicking it over his, and his opponents’, head with his heel, regathering and breaking free to score a length-of-the-field try.

Since being uploaded, the video has garnered over 1.5 million views in a little over one day with audiences enraptured by the audaciously cheeky manoeuvre.

“Mateeeeee so cheeky,” wrote Instagram user daveyyg.

While Facebook user Rock Taylor expressed his adulation stating: “c’mon Wasps, you’ve got to sign this guy up.”
